3.0-Liter engines: The Mercedes 3.0-liter engine found its use as early as the 1920s and continued in production until the mid-1950s. After a half a century hiatus, the 3.0-liter engine reemerged in 2007 as a turbocharged version of the straight-6 engine that included the M256 family as its primary showcase with a myriad of vehicle class applications.

• M272 E30 - The M272 E30 was used as a 2004-2010 Mercedes SLK 280 engine, 2005-2010 Mercedes CLS 280 engine, 2005-2010 Mercedes CLK 280 engine, 2005-2009 Mercedes C 280 engine, 2009-2011 Mercedes C 300 engine, 2008-2012 Mercedes GLK 300 engine, 2005-2009 Mercedes E 280 engine, 2009-2011 Mercedes E 300 engine, and a 2005-2009 Mercedes SL 280. This naturally aspirated 3.0-liter V6 Mercedes motor was all-aluminum by design and had a dual overhead cam (DOHC) cylinder head with a continuous variable valve timing (VVT) system on it allowing it to produce 228 horsepower at the crank.
• M276 DE30LA - This is a newer version of the 3.0 V6 Mercedes engine that came equipped with twin IHI turbochargers for added performance measures. This engine was introduced in the 2014 production year and debuted with an impressive 329 hp which was increased two years later to 362 hp. It was an all-aluminum engine with dual overhead cam (DOHC) cylinder heads, direct fuel injection, variable valve timing (VVT), and a compression ratio of either 10.5:1 or 10.7:1 depending on the year. • OM642 DE30 - This is the turbo-diesel version of the Mercedes 3.0-liter V6 engine that is completely different from its gas counterparts. This Mercedes 3.0 diesel motor is all-aluminum with a 76 degree V-block. It features a variable nozzle turbocharger and a common rail direct fuel injection system to supply fuel for the motor.
