ABOUT REMAN ENGINE

1.6 Liter Engines: The 1.6-liter engine size was some of the most common small-displacement inline 4-cylinder engines produced by Nissan Motors. The 1.6-liter engines produced by Nissan range from naturally aspirated to turbocharged and some were even used with the Atkinson cycle for hybrid applications. The main 1.6-liter engines still used in production vehicles by Nissan today in the United States are the HR16DE as well as the MR16DDT but the MR engine is just used for NISMO or performance applications.

  • CA16DE This 1.6-liter Nissan engine was only produced for three model years: 1987, 1988, and 1989. It was rated at 122 hp and featured a 16-valve dual overhead cam (DOHC) design and multi-port fuel injection (MPFI). This 1.6 Nissan engine was found in the Nissan Pulsar and Nissan Sunny.
  • GA16DE These Nissan engines were used in produced in the United States from 1990-1999 in smaller Nissan vehicles like the 1993-1996 Nissan NX1600, 1991-1999 Nissan Sentra, 1991-1994 Nissan Presea, 1995-1999 Nissan 200SX, 1995-1999 Nissan Almera, 1990-1999 Nissan Pulsar, and the 1993-1999 Nissan Primera. This engine had 16 valves, dual overhead cams (DOHC), and was equipped with timing chains instead of timing belts.
  • MR16DDT This is a direct-injection turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine with twin variable valve timing control (CVTCS). One notable feature of this engine is that it features reduced friction in addition to a lightweight design. It is intercooled in addition to being turbocharged and has a compression ratio of 9:5:1 as well. This turbo 1.6 Nissan engine was used in the 2013-present Nissan Juke NISMO and 2017-present Nissan Sentra SR Turbo / NISMO.
  • HR16DE This is a Nissan naturally aspirated 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine. A new version of this engine that comes with an Atkinson cycle was released in order to equip Renault with hybrid vehicles. It produces 90 horsepower at 5600 RPM and 106 lb-ft of torque at 3200 RPM. One common issue with the HR16DE engine is the fact that the timing chain is not particularly reliable and becomes stretched out earlier than it should. The HR16DE was used as a 2002-2020 Nissan Cube engine, 2004 Nissan Note engine, 2015-2016 Nissan Micra engine, and a 2009-present Nissan Versa engine.
