- D17A2 - This updated version of the D17A1 engine was the first to feature VTEC-E technology and was used as a 2001-2005 Honda Civic engine and a 2001-2005 Acura EL engine in the United States. It has a 9.9:1 compression ratio and produces 127 hp with a redline of 6,800 rpm.
- D17A6 - Also featuring the VTEC-E technology, this 1.7 Honda inline 4-cylinder engine also had a compression ratio of 9.9:1 and produced 117 hp.
