1.8-Liter Engines: The 1.8-liter inline 4-cylinder engines manufactured by Honda Motor Company for use in its production vehicles were popular motors for many years. Honda 1.8 engines came for sale within the R and B engine classes. The engines in the Honda B class are known to be high revving and all of them are equipped with dual overhead cam (DOHC) cylinder heads and aluminum blocks whereas the engines within the R engine class have single overhead cam (SOHC) cylinder heads.
B18B1 - This 1.8 Honda engine was a 1994-2001 Acura Integra engine for sale. It had 9.2:1 compression from the factory and was rated at 140 hp. It should be noted that the JDM version of this engine had a slightly higher compression ratio of 9.4:1 resulting in slightly higher horsepower and torque ratings. The US version of the Honda B18B1 engine had a redline of 6,800 rpm whereas the JDM version had a redline of 7,200 rpm. This 1.8 Honda engine did not have VTEC.
B18C1 - Known as the Acura GSR motor, this engine was a dual overhead cam (DOHC) and VTEC-equipped 1.8-liter Honda motor with a compression ratio of 10.0:1 and a massive horsepower rating for its size of 170 hp. This 1.8 Honda engine had a high redline of 8,100 rpm and was used as a 1994-2001 Acura Integra GS-R engine for sale.
B18C5 - Commonly referred to as the Acura Integra Type R engine, this 1.8-liter performance Honda engine was used in the 1997-2001 Acura Integra Type R. The B18C5 engine for sale has a 10.6:1 compression ratio, dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) VTEC cylinder heads, and a horsepower rating of 197 hp which puts it well above 100 hp per liter. It should be noted that this engine also has a redline of 8,400 rpm and a fuel cut-off of 9,000 rpm.
R18A1 - This newer 1.8-liter Honda engine features an i-VTEC system that uses two camshaft profiles and alternates them for the best acceleration and power generation. It was used in the 2006-2012 Honda Civic. This engine utilized single overhead cam (SOHC) cylinder heads, has a compression ratio of 10.5:1, and a horsepower rating of 139 hp.
R18Z1 - Found for sale in the 2012-2020 Honda Civic, this 1.8-liter Honda engine is another single overhead cam (SOHC) inline 4-cylinder engine with a 10.6:1 compression ratio and is rated at 143 hp from the factory.
R18Z9 - This is the newest 1.8-liter Honda engine used in production and it is still used as a 2016-present Honda HR-V engine. It has a 10.6:1 compression ratio and produces 139 hp from the factory.
