ABOUT REMAN ENGINE

2.4-Liter Engines: Mitsubishi 2.4-liter engines were manufactured in the 4B1 and 4G6 engine series and come with single overhead cam (SOHC) and dual overhead cam (DOHC) cylinder heads depending on the year and the model the engine was put in.

  • 4B12 - This 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine has a 16-valve dual overhead cam (DOHC) cylinder head coupled with a 10.5:1 compression ratio to produce a horsepower rating of 168 hp. It is used as a 2008-2015 Mitsubishi Lancer engine as well as a 2009 and 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander engine.

  • 4G64 - The 4G64 Mitsubishi engine was for sale for over a decade in many production vehicles worldwide, including the United States. This 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder engine came in 8-valve single overhead cam (SOHC), 16-valve single overhead cam (SOHC), and 16-valve dual overhead cam (DOHC) cylinder head configurations. It should be noted that most of these engines used multi-port fuel injection but some of the later versions were equipped with direct fuel injection. This Mitsubishi 2.4 engine was found in the 1989-1991 and 1999-2005 Hyundai Sonata, 1996-2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse, 2001-2004 Dodge Stratus Coupe, 2001-2006 Hyundai Santa Fe, 1997-1999 Mitsubishi Montero, 1990-1992 Dodge Ram 50, 2003-2006 Kia Sorento, 2000-2005 Kia Optima, and the 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander.

  • 4G69 - This 2.4 Mitsubishi engine started out as a cast-iron block engine but later switched to an aluminum block design. It has an aluminum single overhead cam (SOHC) cylinder head, multi-point fuel injection, and variable valve timing (VVT) technology referred to as MIVEC by Mitsubishi. It was used most commonly in the 2004-2006 Mitsubishi Lancer, the 2004-2006 Mitsubishi Outlander, the 2004-2012 Mitsubishi Galant, and the 2006-2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse. The 4G69 was rated at approximately 162 horsepower from the factory.
