2.7-Liter Engines: The 2.7 L Ecoboost engine is a direct-injection turbocharged gasoline engine. The 2.7 Ecoboost V6 twin-turbo engine is produced in the USA at Ford's Lima plant in Ohio. A common problem for the second-generation engine is it requires a lot of basic maintenance for real longevity, otherwise, it faces many reliability issues.
2.7 EcoBoost (Nano 1st Generation) - The 2.7 EcoBoost engine came for sale with a two-piece (upper and lower) block design in which the upper portion of the block is made out of compacted graphite iron which is also used in Ford’s heavy-duty 6.7L Powerstroke diesel engine. This 2.7 EcoBoost engine was rated between 315-335 hp and was used as a 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX engine, 2017-2020 Lincoln Continental engine, 2019-present Lincoln Nautilus engine, 2015-2017 Ford F-150 engine, 2015-2018 Ford Edge Sport engine, 2015-2018 Ford Edge ST engine, and 2017-2019 Ford Fusion Sport engine.
2.7 EcoBoost (Nano 2nd Generation) - This second generation 2.7-liter V6 turbocharged EcoBoost engine provides an additional 25 lb-ft of torque over the first generation and uses high-strength compacted-graphite iron (CGI) for the entire block instead of the previous 2-part block design. This engine also received other upgrades including a dual-chain drive system as well as a lighter cam. This engine was rated between 310-325 hp and was put in the 2018-present Ford F-150 as well as the 2021-present Ford Bronco.
