2.8-Liter Engines: The only 2.8-liter V6 engine that Ford ever mass-produced from 1974 all the way into the early ’90s and it is a part of the Ford Cologne V6 engine class. 

2.8 Cologne - This engine was the second generation of Cologne V6 engines for sale by Ford Motor Company and it showed. The 2.8 was slightly more powerful than the old 2.6 Cologne V6 and it has upgrades including a new block and geared camshaft along with a new exhaust manifold. The 2.8 Cologne V6 was used as a Ford Bronco 2 engine, a 1983-1986 Ford Ranger engine, a Ford Aerostar engine, a Ford Pinto engine, a Ford Mustang engine, a Ford Sierra engine, a Mercury Capri engine, and a Mercury Bobcat engine.
