2.8-Liter engines: The Mercedes 2.8-liter engine was originally tasked with powering the company’s 1972 to 1986 era M104 engine. Beginning in 1998, the 2.8-liter engine was switched to a V6 configuration that found use in the M112 engine series.
M112 E28 - First manufactured in 1998 by Mercedes-Benz, this all-aluminum 2.8-liter V6 engine had a sequential fuel injection system and a compression ratio of 10.0:1. It produced a maximum horsepower of 204 hp and was used in the production of the 1998-2000 Mercedes C 280, 1998-2006 Mercedes S 280, and the 1998-2002 Mercedes E 280.
