ABOUT REMAN ENGINE

3.0-Liter Engines: The 3.0-liter engine size is a very common engine displacement when it comes to BMW engines. BMW has manufactured engines of this size for multiple decades in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms but they have all been in the straight 6-cylinder configuration. Engines classes that produced engines in the 3.0-liter size are the M54, N52, N53, N54, N55, and finally the S55 series.

  • M54B30 - This was one of the first naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engines BMW produced on a mass scale and it was used in the 2000-2006 BMW 330i/ 300xi/ 300ci, 2000-2004 BMW 530i, 2000-2002 BMW Z3 3.0i, 2003-2005 BMW 530i, 2002-2005 BMW Z4 3.0i, 2003-2006 BMW X3 3.0i, 2000-2006 BMW X5 3.0i, and the 2002-2005 BMW 730i/ 730li. This engine had a compression ratio of 10.2:1 and a horsepower rating of 228 hp from the factory.

  • N52B30 - This naturally aspirated 3.0-liter BMW engine has a magnesium/aluminum alloy block with a dual overhead cam (DOHC) aluminum cylinder head, variable valve timing (VVT, and variable valve lift (VVL). This 3.0 BMW engine for sale was used in the 2008-2011 BMW 125i, 2009-2011 BMW X1, 2010-2011 BMW 528i, 2004-2007 BMW 630i, 2005-2013 BMW 330i/ 330xi, 2005-2015 BMW 730i, 2005-2009 BMW 530i/ 530xi, 2005-2011 BMW Z4, 2009-2012 BMW 130i, 2006-2011 BMW X3, 2006-2010 BMW X5, and the 2007-2010 BMW 630i. It has a compression ratio of 10.7:1 and a horsepower rating anywhere from 174-268 hp.

  • N53B30 - This engine has some updates from the previous N52 naturally aspirated straight-6 engine: direct fuel injection instead of port injection, increased 12.0:1 compression ratio, and this engine stopped the use of the variable valve lift (VVL) technology. This 3.0 BMW inline 6-cylinder engine produced anywhere between 201-268 hp from the factory and was used as a 2009-2011 BMW 523i engine, 2007-2013 BMW 325i engine, 2006-2010 BMW 525i engine, 2009-2011 BMW 528i engine, 2007-2010 BMW 530i engine, 2007-2010 BMW 630i engine, 2007-2013 BMW 330i engine, and the 2011-2013 BMW 530i engine.

  • N54B30 - This is the first turbocharged version of the BMW 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. It is an all-aluminum engine with a dual overhead cam (DOHC) cylinder head and variable valve timing (VVT). It comes with twin turbochargers set at 8psi of boost to produce anywhere from 302-402 horsepower from the factory. This engine is used in the 2006-2013 BMW 335i, 2007-2010 BMW 535i, 2007-2010 BMW 135i, 2008-2010 BMW X6, 2009-2016 BMW Z4, 2008-2012 BMW 740i, and the 2011 BMW 1 series M coupe.

  • N55B30M0 - First of the N55 engine class, this 3.0 BMW engine utilizes a single twin-scroll turbocharger instead of twin-turbos like the N54. Another notable difference is that this engine saw the return of the Valvetronic variable valve lift (VVL) system from BMW. This engine produced 302 hp with 10.2:1 compression and was used in the 2009-2017 BMW 535i, 2010-2015 BMW 335i, 2010-2013 BMW 135i, 2010-2017 BMW X3, 2011-2013 BMW X5, 2011-2019 BMW X6, 2012-2015 BMW X1, 2013-2016 BMW 435i, 2014-2018 BMW X5, and the 2014-2016 BMW X4.

  • N55B30T0 - This version of the N55 engine was used in the 2016-2018 BMW M2 and the 2015-2018 BMW X4 M40i. It was a higher-tuned engine that produced anywhere from 355-365 hp but retained all the same parts as the other N55 engines.

  • N55HP - This engine was identical to the other N55 engines other than it was used in conjunction with a hybrid electric engine to power the BMW models it was put in. It should be noted that this engine is also known as the active hybrid BMW engine. It was rated at 335 horsepower and was found in the 2013-2015 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 and the 2011-2016 BMW ActiveHybrid 5.

  • S55B30 - The S series 55 engine is known as the higher-performance version of BMW’s 3.0-liter straight-6 turbo engine. It’s utilized in the 2019-2021 BMW M2, 2014-2018 BMW M3, and 2014-2020 BMW M4. Being a performance-based engine, it received strengthened pistons/ rods, twin fuel pumps, twin turbochargers instead of a single, a lightweight crankshaft, better valve springs, an improved intercooler system, and a closed-deck engine block. All-in-all, this engine was rated anywhere from 275 hp all the way up to 493 hp from the factory.
