3.4-Liter Engines: The Toyota 3.4 liter engine first appeared in the 1990s and arose from the VZ Toyota engine series. This series of engines ranged from 2.0-liters all the way up to the 3.4-liter engine which we are discussing. These engines came standard with a cast-iron block and forged steel crankshaft with a cast-iron main bearing.
5VZ-FE - The 5VZ-FE engine is the most recent and most powerful 3.4-liter Toyota engine ever produced. This V6 Toyota engine featured sequential multi-port fuel injection, 4 valves per cylinder, and large cast connecting rods. This engine has a timing belt instead of a timing chain and is used in the 1995-2004 Toyota Tacoma, 2000-2004 Toyota Tundra, 1995-1998 Toyota T-100, and the 1996-2002 Toyota 4runner. The 5VZ-FE engine was rated at 190 hp at the crank.
