ABOUT REMAN ENGINE

4.4-Liter Engines: BMW has manufactured several different variations of the 4.4-liter V8 engine. These range from naturally aspirated to high horsepower-producing twin-turbocharged V8s. However, one thing all of these 4.4 V8 BMW engines for sale have in common is that they all come with an aluminum block and aluminum dual overhead cam (DOHC) cylinder heads. The BMW engine classes that produce 4.4-liter displacement engines are M62, N62, N63, and S63.

  • M62TUB44 - Found in the 1998-2003 BMW 540i, 1999-2001 BMW 740i/ 740Li, and the 1999-2003 BMW X5, the M62TUB44 was a naturally aspirated 4.4-liter V8 that produced 290 hp in most applications. It should be noted that this engine had only a single VANOS variable valve timing (VVT) system.

  • N62B44 - This 4.4 BMW V8 engine is very similar in design to its predecessor, the M62. The main difference between the two engines is that the N62 has a double VANOS variable valve timing (VVT) system for the intake and exhaust valves instead of just the intake valves like the M62. This engine was rated at approximately 329 hp and was used as a 2001-2005 BMW 745i/ 745Li engine, a 2004-2006 BMW X5 engine, a 2003-2005 BMW 545i engine, and a 2003-2007 BMW 645ci engine.

  • N63B44O0 - Used in the 2008-2013 BMW X6, 2009-2012 BMW 750i/ 750Li, 2010-2013 BMW 550i, 2011-2013 BMW X5, and the 2012-2017 BMW 650i. This engine was rated at 402 horsepower and was one of the first versions of the turbocharged 4.4-liter engine manufactured by BMW in the N63 engine series. This engine was the first to feature a “hot-vee” engine layout which essentially means the turbochargers and exhaust manifolds lie within the V portion of the engine rather than outside it like is normal. It should be noted that this version of the turbo 4.4 BMW engine did not receive the Valvetronic variable valve lift (VVL) technology.

  • N63B44O1 - The N63 engine class received a technical update as a whole in 2012 that mainly affected this engine. The update gave it newer turbochargers, lighter pistons, a forged crankshaft, forged connecting rods, a new fuel system, an additional coolant pump, and a complete removal of the blow-off valve. With the addition of all of those updates, this engine was rated at approximately 444 horsepower at the crank and was used in the production of the 2013-2015 750i/ 750Li, 2013-2016 BMW 550i, 2014-2018 BMW X5, 2014-2019 BMW X6, and the 2013-2019 BMW 650i.

  • S63B44O0 - The S63 engine class is a group of performance engine variants derived from the N63 engine series which include two twin-scroll high-performance turbochargers that use more boost. This version of the engine was used in the 2010-2013 BMW X5 M as well as the 2010-2013 BMW X6 M. It had a 9.3:1 compression ratio and produced approximately 547 horsepower at the crank.

  • S63B44T0 - This S63 BMW 4.4-liter V8 engine version was the first to use the Valvetronic variable valve lift (VVL) technology along with the twin turbos. It has a compression ratio of 10.1:1 along with a horsepower rating of 553 hp and was used in the production of the 2011-2017 BMW M5, 2012-2018 BMW M6, and the 2013-2018 BMW M6 Gran Coupe.

  • S63B44T2 - Used for the 2015-2019 BMW X5 M and the 2015-2019 BMW X6 M, this version of BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine for sale was basically the same as the ones before it other than some slight tuning changes which resulted in an increase in horsepower to 567 hp.
