6.3-Liter engines: The Mercedes 6.3-liter V12 engine configuration sought to replace the heavier 6.0-liter M120 V12 model. Produced for a relatively short amount of time, the 6.3-liter capacity found a home in the M137 family of engines.

• M137 E 63 AMG - This engine was manufactured for a four-year period between 1998 and 2002 before being replaced by the more powerful M276 with twin-turbochargers. It was used in the 1998-2001 Mercedes S 63 AMG, 1998-2001 Mercedes CL 63 AMG, and the 1998-2002 Mercedes G 63 AMG. It was naturally aspirated with a 10.0:1 compression ratio and a horsepower rating of 437 hp. It was an all-aluminum engine with 3-valve single overhead cam (SOHC) cylinder heads.
