The International Ford 6.9 engine was used from 1983 till 1986 when it was replaced by the 7.3 Powerstroke.
6.9 IDI - Born in 1983, the Ford 6.9 IDI diesel engine was for sale in the 1983-1987 Ford F-250 and Ford F-350. This engine was rated at approximately 170 hp and 315lb-ft of torque and was labeled as a better gas mileage alternative for light and medium-duty Ford pickup trucks.
