1.3 Liter Engines: The only 1.3-liter engines used by Chevrolet were Suzuki engines that essentially just had a Chevrolet logo slapped onto them. In particular, the G13 series Suzuki engine is what was used by General Motors.
- LY8 (G13ABB) - This “General Motors” engine was labeled as the LY8 engine by Chevrolet and Pontiac for use in their vehicles but the engine was really a Suzuki G13BB engine. This Chevrolet 1.3 engine was for sale in the Chevrolet Metro, Geo Metro, and Pontiac Firefly between 1998-2001. It was a single overhead cam (SOHC) engine with electronic multi-point fuel injection which enabled it to produce around 80 hp and 80 lb-ft of torque.
